Join us on Saturday, November 3rd for this epic bike ride to a craft brewery!
Biking, lunch, beer and beautiful scenery are all included on this great day out! All levels welcome. :)
The Putnam Division of the New York Central Railroad – the “Old Put” – used to chug commuters into New York City from communities in Westchester and Putnam Counties. First run with steam trains, then with diesels, the route was ultimately abandoned in the 1950’s as the region’s highways were constructed. Fortunately, much of the railroad right-of-way was left in tact, and now it is a bike path stretching 48 miles between Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx and Brewster.
We will be taking a 17 miles bike ride to the Brewery with plenty of scenic views along the way. Historic markers and remnants of the old railroad line the route, giving you an opportunity to learn about the history of the railroad and the communities it served.
When you reach the end of the ride, you’ll get experience Captain Lawrence Brewery and have a tasting of up to 5 beers!
It's a 17 mile ride from Inwood to Captain Lawrence Brewery. After we have some sips, we'll hop back on the bike to Tarrytown, where we'll take the train back to Marble Hill. At the Brewery, you’ll be able to have 5 beer tastings for $5 and optionally purchase lunch, too!
Here's the thing: this is essentially a meetup. You are responsible for bringing snacks, water, a BIKE and helmet (or you can rent one from Tread in Inwood). The tasting at the Brewery will be $5 for 5 pours and you can optionally buy lunch when you're there.
WHEN: Saturday, November 3rd (9-5ish)
BASICALLY FREE if you have a bike!
$5 for 5 tastings at the brewery, plus train fare from Tarrytown to Marble Hill. You’re responsible for bringing your own bike and helmet (or rent from Tread Bike Shop in Inwood offers rentals by the day, so that may be your best bet!), snacks, water and you can optionally buy lunch at the Brewery.
